From Belle: Mom & Dad Saved A Life Three Years Ago

I ate dog cake on Wednesday! Oh, getting ahead of my dogself but it’s me Belle! Three years ago, mom and dad adopted me in front of Petsmart. That’s how they saved my life. Mom counts my adoption day as my birthday.

When mom got home from work on Wednesday and mentioned “cookie” to dad I knew “cookie” was for me. Mom got me “The Original PUP-PIE Natural Wheat & Corn Free Pie-Shaped Treat for Dogs” from Petsmart. Wow, that was a mouthful. Mom showed me my cake and I was dieing to eat it. Sesame seed sprinkles, frosting, pumpkin and peanut butter oven baked cake…give me, give me, give me! Peanut butter is my fav!

Camera came out and I was like, “no mom just give me my cake!” To make matters worse she took out one of my birthday hats from my first birthday party for me to wear. I tried to shake it off but mom was determined for me to keep it on. Once I got a sniff of my cake I didn’t care about the hat anymore. What hat? I got to eat three delicious slices.

As I write this, I’m eating another slice of cake. Don’t tell mom. It’s our little secret.

Beautiful Ladies Deserve Flowers on their Birthday

Amanda and I celebrated her birthday a day early. She came over to my place and we worked on making necklaces out of neckties as we watched movies on Netflix. I got Amanda a gift certificate to her favorite store, G stage, a homemade piñata ornament, and a pair of rose earrings with matching sweater clips, which I made. I also got her a birthday cupcake filled with strawberry filling. She made a wish and we shared it.

Amanda, I hope you had a wonderful birthday yesterday. I can’t wait until we go shopping together.

Thirty One

A week ago, Saturday, February second, I turned thirty for the second time. Fine! I’ll say it! I turned thirty-one! Ahhh! This year for my birthday I made sure I requested the day off from work, even if that meant staying at home doing nothing. After dealing with upset customers on my birthday pervious years, I refused to work on my birthday again if I didn’t have to.

On my birthday, my family and friends made me feel special. My facebook became popular. Whose doesn’t on his or her birthday with corner reminders on facebook that it’s someone’s birthday. Which is alright by me because I tend to have a crappy memory when it comes to remembering birth dates. I got texts, calls, and Happy Birthday songs got left on my cell phone. For lunch my best bud Pam took me to Souplantation, where I tired to taste all the soups they had. I had two more left to go, but stopped to leave room for dessert. It was my first time there and I don’t do well at buffets because I try to eat everything. Driving back home, Pam said she felt bad letting me go home so early on my birthday and without having a drink. It was 8 pm and we stopped by my favorite Mexican restaurant, La Casita, and had my favorite margarita, Coronarita. Around 9:30pm, I started feeling my age. My stomach was aching because of all the food I ate and I couldn’t even eat my free birthday cake. Sad to say, I was ready to go home. My plan was to crawl into bed and watch a movie but I ended up saying up until 1am working on a swap piece while watching “Pitch Perfect” in the living room. There is no other way I could have imagined my birthday. Phone calls as far as Spain, lunch with a good friend, my favorite drink, and ending the night with what I love to do best – crafting. Let’s not forget the cherry on top, and no mean customers!

Some pictures of gifts I got before and after my birthday from people that love me!

Thirty-five homemade Day of the Dead inspired cupcakes made by my work pal Ms. Thayer and her sister Tawnya. The only card I got from my favorite aunt Rosa. She has never missed a birthday. McDonald breakfast from work pal Maria. Frida Kahlo themed tea lights made by Amanda for my Frida Kahlo themed birthday party, a week away!

My 30th Birthday

On Groundhog’s Day, Thursday, February 2nd was my 30th birthday. Even though I had to go to my Phlebotomy class early in the morning and go to the doctors' for a student physical, my day turned out wonderful! My husband and I usually treat each other to an expensive dinner at a restaurant for our birthdays but this year he decided to make me a delicious three-course dinner instead, appetizer, salad, and a rack of lamb dinner. Poor thing was salving way in the kitchen all day. The whole meal turned out great and the food looked like it would have been made in an expensive restaurant.
For dessert we had carrot birthday cake that I bought for myself. Yes, you read that right; I bought it for myself. I knew my husband wouldn’t buy me one and I wanted cake for my birthday so I got myself one. We ended the night watching a scary movie, “Quarantine 2: Terminal” on Netflix.
At work the next day, my co-worker Anne surprised me with a birthday cake made out of cupcakes. The cake reminded me of the movie “Up,” one of my favorite animated films by the way. My staff sang me “Happy Birthday.” Anne also got my balloons and a pink sock monkey.
Guess turning 30 wasn’t too bad after all.

A Very Happy Birthday

Even though I had to work on my birthday, it turned out to be a very Happy Birthday. I woke up to text messages and birthday calls. My mom sang to me, “Estas son Las Mañanitas” a Mexican birthday morning song that brought tears to my eyes. At work I was surprised with birthday donuts by a coworker and one of my employees got me a mini birthday cake. At home, birthday cards from family and friends waited to be open and my facebook wall was covered with birthday wishes. For dinner, my husband took me to eat all you can eat Sushi. Yummy! This will be my last year being in my twenties but thirties I don’t fear you!
